You seem to know precious little about US trademark law. To sum Apple's intentions here: protection of their iPod trademark is their objective. I think we can all agree that no one is trying to trademark just the word "pod".
But if someone else creates a product in the arena of digital music, and the name of their product intends to capitalize on the popularity of the term "iPod", then if Apple doesn't actively protect their trademark, they run the risk of losing rights to the trademark entirely, so that in fact, not only would someone in the future be allowed to sell under a "mypodder" or similar name, they could actually create ipod clones and sell them under the name iPod!
Of course, it'd never get that far, since you'd have to have legal department of morons to allow that to happen.

(Side note: Having listened to it for the first time on this flight, I really appreciate airlines that put the air traffic control traffic on one of the audio channels. It was neat -- and somewhat comforting -- to know exactly what my pilot was doing up there.)United is the ONLY airline that does this.

Wireless syncing is a lot easier and a lot less hassle. Charging the battery with an electrical outlet is the only time you need to plug your iPhone in anything, IMHO. I find syncing my iPhone to my computer to be a chore and I rarely do so because of this.

While it has been hacked and many home brew adapter guides have been on the internet, these items are also not for sale. So, I doubt we WILL see such an adapter.

The phrase Podcast didn't exist until the development of Apple's iPod so I don't see why they shouldn't own the rights to it or at least have some level of control for it's use.

I love everything I can do with .mac, and I am willing to pay the $99 bucks for iDisk, Sync , etc. But please increase the storage space. I know it's been said 100 times, but 1 gb is just a joke.

Apple hasn't dipped its toe in the ruggedized computer business, has it? That's bound to be one aspect of army interest.
But perhaps computing devices that survive going to school with students should already be considered ruggedized.

I notice quite a few folks referring to how fast a machine is mhz for mhz and how if software were properly developed that the Mac would be faster than the equivalent pc. There is one flaw in that thought process you can only buy and use what is on the market. I have been designing on Macs since '92. In the end of 2001 after being laid off I needed a pc to test and developed on. I built an Athlon XP 1800+ system with Win2k. Prior to that I was working on a G4 500 agp with OS 9.1. My new testing PC absolutely killed my G4. Now I realize the G4 is old technology and the Athlon new. The speed of the machines is a 3:1 ratio 500mhz(G4) to 1.54ghz(Athlon) but for my tasks in After Effects and Photoshop it is 4 times faster. Not to mention Flash which Macromedia has done a terrible job developing for the Mac. I now see actual frame rates rather than two thirds frame rate. To get that sort of performance on a new Mac (in late 2001) I would have had to shell out $3000 and it still wouldn't have been as fast at the time. I paid $1100 for the pc. I love OS X and I run 10.5 on my G4 but I can't justify spending the cash on a new Mac since I would have to upgrade all my primary aps to run in OS X. Not to mention win2k is solid. I rarely have to restart and have crashed maybe twice in the 10 months I've had the pc.
I'm at the crossroads though. I need to get a laptop soon and I would love to see a reasonably priced Ti Powerbook. But I'll probably end up with a 2ghz pc laptop for $1500. apple needs to get more competitive with bang for the buck. I'm just waiting for a reason to go back to working on a Mac!

I wasn't thinking of putting every article into a new structure, just say the Mac articles into the "Hardware" and "Mac Hardware" categories to see which works best.
Then any arguments on the specific structure of those can be done and the final model can be copied to the other articles, with minor changes as required.

Here's the gist of the problem: too generous state worker union pensions. I wouldn't be surprised that these pensions are extensively re-done to drastically cut its cost in order to reduce state budget deficits.
Really? Union pensions are the sole cause of states with financial problems?
So do you have any theories about why states without unions are having the same financial problems? Are these union pensions somehow crossing state lines into South Carolina and causing our budget shortfall?

Considering Apple just announced at WWDC that 50% of the Macs purchased in their retail stores were people that were new to Macs, I'd say that's a pretty good indication that the ads aren't hurting them, at least. I personally love the ads, as does my fiance. They're witty, funny, and rather annoying to the hard-core PC fanboys, which I think is a very good thing. I don't know how many times I've heard very similar arguments (the ones that John Hodgeman gives in the ads) from my hard-core PC fanboy friends. I also have friends that think they need to warn me about every "virus" that comes out, and I'm always sending them back messages both telling them that the messages they're getting are hoaxes (I've even given them the website to check them against, but they never learn) and also that I can't get any of the viruses they're worried about, but it seems they never get it. This ad campaign could do them a lot of good.

Exact same thing happened to me, AT&T iPhone 4, set to "Arizona" (not Mountain) time. I power cycled the phone and it reset to the correct time.

The last time I had surgery (January 2, 1986) I was knocked out via IV.
As for what it felt like...
They had put the IV in before I had gone into surgery, and it really wasn't that bad. When the doctor and his assistant showed up the anesthesiologist let me know that it was time.
He ask me to start counting backwards from 100. I felt a warm sensation moving up my arm from the IV and then into my chest. A moment later I felt like I was walking out of a fog... but I wasn't, I was lying in recovery... and I got sick.
It took a few minutes to finally become completely cognizant of my surroundings, but all and all it wasn't a bad experience. The time for the surgery was completely gone (as if it hadn't happened). It felt like (going from fully awake before the surgery back to fully awake again after) it had only taken a couple minutes (the surgery was about 4 hours as I recall).
As for what it felt like...

I think you're misinterpreting my language - I mean "for the user that knows even the most basic amount about technology" the user experience is superior in my estimation.
Not the interpretation you seem to be reading into it that reads more like "anyone who doesn't agree with me is an idiot".
How does knowing something about tech make it a superior device? Are you basing it on something like a feature list? It is a highly inferior device because it is an inferior means of accomplishing the vast majority of tablet-related tasks as compared to the iPad. I'm not knocking Android by any means�it will continue to evolve and tablet offerings will improve�but in the tablet world it trails a considerable distance behind iOS and that is what matters most.

I agree that they're poorly suited to review some of these more technical devices and I think their methodology renders many such reviews released by them fairly useless, but they serve a valuable purpose, it would be a shame to see this type of service go away, and I can't see how they've become obsolete to many folks out there.
